I have learned a lot in photography class, like how to take a good picture. There are several things that I think make an amazing photograph. The major one is, there has to be a focal point. Something that draws your attention in and you find interest in. If there is no interest from the audience then there is no point in taking the picture. It has to have good details. Things that help explain a little bit more about the subject. The photo should tell a story. Everyone should be able to look at the picture and think of something, though everyone can interpret it their own way. But another one of the big things that it needs is good composition. The things in the picture should be thoughtfully placed.
Picking the things you photograph is extremely important. The way I chose was simple: What types of things interest me. I would just walk around with the camera and stop whenever anything caught my eye. If it's interesting to me, chances are it would be interesting so someone else. Anything that was set up in an interesting way, anything colorful or attention grabbing.
Photography was already a part of my life before this class and will continue to be in the future. I like to take interesting pictures so I can draw them and abstract them, make them even more my own creation. But sometimes it's nice to just take pictures. It was something I really enjoyed. I want to write for my career, and journalism has always been an option. Maybe I could take photographs as well. Also, my family all thinks I'm the person to call to take pictures at events.
I could be a better photographer if I was a little more adventurous. I took pictures of things that were within my reach, easily accessible. Had I had the opportunity I would of gone out to take pictures of things I hadn't seen before, things that caught my interest the moment I saw them rather than things I already knew I liked. Also it would be better if I took pictures of things other than cats, and thought a bit longer on the composition of the pictures, arranging things in an interesting manner.
